Confetti / Cathedral Stars.....

As you can see....I have more or less finished the top to my Confetti Stars. This is my version of Bonnie Hunter's Cathedral Stars Quilt she has instructions to over here. I made mine so colorful I thought it reminded me of that glittery confetti you can get at the party store. I'm thinking I will just add a border around using the same turquoise green. I decided I didn't want rows of various borders of straight lines going around it. I wanted the stars to stay the main focus.....and then I'm thinking the blue for the binding. The hot pink stars are bright enough without adding more of that color around the edge....I'm just saying.....

It will lay on the floor through out the evening so Mr. Brown Dirt and I can do our ritual we do every time I finish a top. We look at it....admire it....critique it....give our various opinions on how wild and colorful this one is. We will discuss which fabrics would be good for the back and....LOL....try to guess on how long it would take me to hand quilt it! I truly LOVE this one.....I'm thinking GD Shaylee's name might be on this one!!

AND GUESS WHAT??? I pulled another SNEAKY drawing for a giveaway. I selected these Halloween fabrics left over from my blocks I made for Jane's Spectacular Halloween Swap. I drew a name from this post....there were 43 comments made......I appreciate all my regulars for helping me out with your opinions.....coming to the rescue when I needed it. Oh how I love to be sneaky.......AND the winner is...#33.......BONNIE from CALAMITY JANES COTTAGE!!! Oh....and by the way.....she is having a giveaway.....go check it out before it's too late!!!
Congratulations Bonnie.....get with me so I can get your snail mail address.

  1. Congrats to Bonnie!!! What a fantastic scrappy star quilt. Bright, happy, fun! Mr. Creations and I don't have a finished quilt top ritual. I do lay it on the floor to show him. Sometimes it stays there for days. He's learned to walk around it! :o)

  14. Very nice! Seeing this quilt reminds me I need to get back to work on my King Quilt. I'm having a hard time getting into the sewingroom and when I do sit down at the machine I have to keep getting up to go do other things.

  17. This one is quite the eye-catcher! What wonderful, happy colors. You're right - it does look like that glittery confetti! I think your idea of more of the green around the border and then the blue for the binding sounds perfect.

We kind of do that finished top ritual too. The cats always want to get under it though!

  24. Oh I love your bright stars, and I love how you and Mr Brown Dirt chat about which would work best for your quilt tops. I'm wondering if you listen to his suggestions....lol... I do a similar thing with Mr Allstitched up, but don't always take his advice.

  27. I love it! I absolutely love it! And then you will hand quilt it!! Holy cow.
We do that same ritual, except tractor joe usually says
"are we done yet?" I can stare at a quilt a lot longer than he can.
I agree with all your thinking on the border and binding.

  28. Well aren't you the sneaky one! That quilt top is va va voom fabulous. I love it. It just pops. Good for you that Mr. BDC will admire with you. He's a keeper but we both knew that before. I'm super jealous of the stitch regulator. I love my old bernina but I do wish they would retrofit for that. Sigh.
