I don't usually ask for other peoples opinions because most of the time I have my own definite ideas concerning my projects........BUT, this is the first Halloween project I have ever done and the first Halloween fabric I have ever added to my stash. I am trying to finish up my swap blocks for Janes Halloween Spooktacular and I am getting VERY frustrated with myself because I just can't seem to make up my mind on which fabric to finish these blocks with!!!! I have taken some photos of my options and would like to get your opinions.....if-in' you don't mind!! ...LOL....I'm sure everyone will probable pick something different and I will still remain undecided!!!
My personal favorite is the pumpkin with bats and witch hats. I know what you mean, though, you'll get a lot of opinions and still be stuck. Whichever one you pick will make a cute block, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteWell, here is my opinion; I like how the orange looks sitting next to the black boo blocks. So the pumpkins with little ghosts or the pumpkins with the witch’s hats are what I like best. However, if I had to pick from the two of these then it would be the pumpkins with little ghost; I think small prints work better on quilt blocks.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mr. Brown Dirt...I like the bright ones. :o)
ReplyDeleteI am not into Halloween that much but I like the brighter one too.
ReplyDeletecould you finish each with a different fabric? :-) I know not what you wanted to hear! -- truthfully I'd go for bright not too busy, so first choice would be pumkins with witches hat, and if the scale of it is too big the pumkins with ghosts... the others seem really busy or faded against the strong B&W to me...
ReplyDeleteI just love your Boo's! I missed out on the sign ups for the swap - just wanted to let you know how cute I think your blocks are (and are going to be, when you pick a bordering fabric!)
ReplyDeleteI think the blue background with the pumpkins and witch hat is a great choice! I agree, small prints seem to work best with these blocks.
ReplyDeletewell.....I LOVE the blk/wht stop border, it's fantastic and my fav is...the spiderweb/pumpkin....as I run for cover. No one else picked this one ;(
ReplyDeleteI, too, like the spiderweb/pumpkin fabric with your super cute BOO blocks so that makes two of us :)
ReplyDeletePumpkins and cobwebs or the pumpkins and bats are my two choices.
ReplyDeleteThis is for a swap, right? Which means the receivers are going to be putting various blocks together in a sort of sampler quilt. That means "busy-busy" to my mind. Therefore I like the first fabric, the brown and subtle one. It will set your block away from whatever it is near, in addition to the stripes, yeah! And it will calm the whole mess down a little.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Halloween sampler quilt is studied the subtlety of that print will be a nice surprise.
I like the pumpkins and spiderwebs if you want to keep them subtle, but my real favorites are either one of the green background prints.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Patty.. those were my choices too..
ReplyDeleteHi Belinda,
ReplyDeleteI like the pumpkins and the orange near the black..so any of those 3 or all. :D
Not to confuse you further.wait until your BOX gets there and then just surprise us all. Any of your choices are great I too lean towards the bright colors. I am sure that when all of the blocks are swapped it will be a dazzling delight!! The holiday fabrics are supposed to be screamy (is that a word?) GAIL
ReplyDeleteSince I'm not in your group, I realize my vote doesn't really matter that much, but I like the pumpkins with the spider web.
ReplyDeletethose halloween fabrics just like to be the center of attention. i really like the way the stripe frames the boo. and my pick is the one with the blue background.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, but if I had to choose, I like either the blue with the pumpkins or the green with the ghosts.
ReplyDeleteFirst your Boo's are great!
ReplyDeleteNow, here is my two cents worth...
You are talking apples and oranges..
country or bright
me, I always choose bright...
But you need to go with your gut and choose what speaks to you and I think you have already chosen!!
For what it's worth, I like the combos in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th pictures the best.
ReplyDeleteI vote for the ghosts with the green background. After all, that's what ghosts do, say "BOO". Also green plays with a lot of other colors since it is nature color :)
ReplyDeleteI am with you. I like the top one too and all the BOO blocks are so cute! All of the fabric is so cool. Good stash you are building there!
ReplyDeleteI like the ghosts on green too.
ReplyDeleteThe last one. Definitely the last one. How are you? I did ring the other day, but you were out. Will catch up again when the summer is over and I've got more time.
ReplyDeletexxxx
The green one with ghosts.
ReplyDeleteI vote pumpkins with spiderwebs!
ReplyDeleteI like the one with the pumpkins and spider webs.
ReplyDeletewheeee, so much fun. I like the ghosts and jacks OR jacks and spiderwebs. You got some fun halloween fabric there!
ReplyDeleteI like the fabric with the pumpkins and the bats. Really cute!
ReplyDeleteMicki
Definately the ghosts/pumpkins on the green. The bright colors are fun with the whimsy of the pieced letters.
ReplyDeleteI think the pumpkins with spiderwebs is the best combo...
ReplyDeletebut what do I know? I would be just as frustrated as you are, if I had to pick!
So now for my two cents.... the pumpkins with the spiderwebs does it for me. I was also furiously working on my swap blocks today. The 9 patches have been done for some time. Did 4 wonky houses today, only 8 more to go!
ReplyDeleteHi Belinda, I like the pumkin with the spider webs. But if is going to have any size to it the bright green one is cute. Love all your fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteKeep Stitchen'

I like the pumpkins and ghosts with the green background...to me it seems to compliment the black and white contrast and not take away from the cute BOO...I hope that helps some.
ReplyDeleteEither way they will be darling(or I mean spooky LOL)
x Lori
Here I am a day later - but they don't all have to be the same... Do some of each. Only the nine patches needed to be the same... What great fabrics. Don't get those is Oz...
ReplyDeleteCheers - Shari
I don't do Haloween, but I'm with Mr Brown Dirt on the bright one. Hope this isn't making you batty.... sorry could help myself there.
ReplyDeleteI scrolled up and down at least a dozen times. I like the top fabric the best....but ANY of them will look boo-tiful.
ReplyDeleteThe "B"s and the "O"s look super!
I like the last one with the jack o lanterns. I'm sure you have already made up your mind by now but that's my pick.
ReplyDeleteI love the BOO blocks. You know I have my very own BOO. lol
Hia Belinda, thanks for popping over. Jellybean2 is my new blog as Jellybean is too full to add any more pics so feel free to take it off your list althother if that helps the blogroll problem.
ReplyDeletePhoto 6 counting downwards gets my vote. What lovely fabrics though.
I love the one with the blue background. I have a lot of those fabrics - so much fun! You'll just have to make more Halloween quilts in the future.
ReplyDeleteI like the pumpkins with the spiderwebs, but they are all cute!
ReplyDeleteWell I love the black and white stripe. I don't really think you can go wrong. I know Jane said make identical blocks but for me that is boring. So I mixed it up and made my same pattern with different fabric. Not everyone will end up with exactly the same quilt but it won't matter.
ReplyDeleteI like either the blue with the pumpkins or the green with the ghosts.
