I am just W-A-Y crazy over these Trips Around The World Blocks!! This is what we are making for our November BLOCK LOTTO. I made 9 blocks this time to enter in the drawing. These blocks were made using 2 1/2" strips I had saved up in my scrap bins. Your strips only need to be 16" long and your finished block with be 12". The pattern was taken from one of Bonnie Hunters tutorials on her QUILTVILLE website.
One of the main reasons I LOVE this block is it's versatility. You can get totally different quilt looks by just playing around and re-arranging your layouts as you can see in the different photos.
These blocks are VERY easy to make, but require a little more extra time than most blocks but I think they are WELL WORTH IT!!

I HOPE I WIN THIS MONTH!!!!!!!
Oh so many trips - and they all look so interesting. You just never know where they will take you.
ReplyDeleteI really like these blocks--this is one of the many "Bonnie" patterns on my "to do" list.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
I like your colour combinations, the first setting is particularly good. Nice new header too. You are very energetic over there. So much good stuff on Bonnie's site - just like Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI hope you win, too! Love the blocks, they're on my list (it's a long one...)
ReplyDeleteJust have to say I really like your first quilt. It's classic, friendly and has a soft palette - quite impressive for a first, I'd say!
These look great Belinda. I love that Bargello.
ReplyDeleteMy fingers are crossed for you. The blocks are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI've admired these quilts for a while now and my 2 1/2" strip bin is overflowing. I don't know what I'm waiting for! Like how you are playing with the setting. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the scrappy look. I've tried Bonnie's method and it really works well. I hope you win, too! Oh yes, I like your new banner at the top of your blog for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you'd love to win those blocks! They're very versatile! I think I like the third layout the best. Good luck! :0)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Your blocks are beautiful. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteOooo...I love these blocks! I hope you win! I am COMPLETELY ga-ga over anything scrappy!
ReplyDeleteIn stitches,
Teresa :o)
At first I thought, I really can't hope she wins, when I want to win. Then, duh, I remembered there is always more than one winner! I wonder how they will look with my blocks that don't have dark diagonals...more haphazard approach.
ReplyDeleteThis block is so fun.
These are fabulous! I have always loved these blocks. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too. That would be awesome if you won.
ReplyDeleteFabulous blocks! Love how you put the dark fabric through the center diagonal!
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome blocks!! I love that they can be arranged in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! That is a pretty neat block to work with.
ReplyDeleteLove your new header.
I made a few of these quilts a few years ago. I think they are wonderful especially for quick baby gifts and such. Yours is so pretty...love the color!
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look great! And I hope we BOTH win this month - just like last year. Do you think lightning will strike twice?
ReplyDeleteI've made 2 of these quilts already. In fact, I have one on my bed right now. Totally scrappy - I call it "the kitchen sink" quilt. But I'd love another one too!
such a cute header - love the reindeer.
ReplyDeleteI love the ziggy zag setting - very fun
I was getting ready to just toss my barrel of bizarre/ugly fabric leftovers but your last few posts have inspired me to get in the game with leaders and enders. I love these trip around the world blocks!
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting about this method and have so many scraps that need a home right now. Thanks for the memory jog! Love the zig zag setting bunches, Belinda! Hope you win the Block Lotto :)
ReplyDeleteThis is the epitome of cool!!! Not only are your crazy but you're amazing. What a hip chick. I totally dig this. :) Makes me smile and happy.
ReplyDeleteI'm making this one too but in smaller squares. Using really ugly fabric from the 80's and 90's but cut small as Bonnie recommends, ha. It'll be finished one of these days!
