Quietly Quilting...

Another little cottage.....I love these !!!

Nothing much going on here. I have just been quietly hand quilting away. I just about have my 25 yr. old first quilt finished. Maybe I will get it finished today....maybe.....my fingers are sooo sore though. Two fingers on my left hand are pricked to death. DH brought me in a bottle of liquid bandage yesterday, but it doesn't help much. Darn, I may have to sew something today instead of quilt, give my fingers a chance to heal up some.

I have been forgetting to share a good website with you....http://womentowomen.com/....great medical for any and all things pertaining to women. I refer to this site often. You should check it out.
I'm going to go see if my fingers can tolerate some hand quilting today!

  1. So cute. I think you need to give your hands a break. It will pay off in the long run.

  2. Have you tried one of those leather thimbles? I use one on both hands... it sure helps me.
I love that Christmas house block you pictured.

  4. I hate when I've over done the hand quilting and my fingers just hurt! I'd take the day off -- its amazing how quickly thye heal up and it makes the quilting so much more enjoyable...

  5. You can sort of feel the fabric but I got use to it. Try a band-aid and see if that helps. Sometimes I like that better if I'm trying to do really tiny stitches.

  6. Your cottages are all so great. Your fabric - amazing. Those fingers take more than 1 day to heal!!! I've tried just about everything, too. I've never found anything that works. What is bad is if you start bleeding on your quilt!!!

I sure hope your finger gets better.

  8. I understand the pain of quilting too much... be careful! I use the paper tape(medical supplies)on my fingers because I can still feel the needle and it doesn't seem to hurt my fingers so much! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  9. Belinda, have you tried those little thimble dots? I'm not sure if you can get those in TX but we have them here. They're wonderful. Just a dot smaller than an M&M and it sticks to the end of your finger. I can quilt for hours on end with just one dot. (That sounds funny!) Anyway send me an e-mail if you want me to send you some.

I had to laugh when you said that your hubby brought you in a bottle of liquid bandaid. I would have prefered a bottle of Johnny Walker if my fingers were that sore. lol...

  10. Morning Belinda, love the holly roof. When my fingers ache from sewing I have to switch too.

As your hubby is getting into crafting....could he learn to quilt too?

I keep trying to get son to sew. I tell him it's good practice for when he gets caught in some dodgy deal and is sewing mail bags. LOL He prefers computer games unfortunately.

  11. Oh oh oh - poor you - sympa :-)

Could you do me a huge favour and email me the dimensions of your frame? I'm going to see if DH will make me up a wooden one.

    Merci mille fois.

  13. Love the cottages. I also have pin pricks all over my hands from hand quilting. I tried using thimbles for awhile but I couldn't manoever them. So I just suffer and hope not to get anything acidic on my hands.
Thanks for the post on my blog:)

  14. I am just geting caught up here..
Can't wait to see your finished quilt. But man I feel for you. I usually just keep switching fingers and areas on them until I've used up all the places available.. but sometimes there just are not enough places! Hope the tape helped some.
Is that another one of Mr Dirt's cottages? :-D

  16. Go to the farm store (sometime the fabric stores or drug stores have it) and get a can of Bag Balm. It is green with little strawberries on it. Orginally made for Cow Utters but it works wonders on quilters fingers and hands.

  17. Your Christmas cottages are always so cute. When I am hand quilting I use these little sticky pads on my finger under the quilt. The product is called Thimble It. Works for me.
