I Tried It

……and it WORKED!

This is a backing I'm about to use.

You know those sharp crease and fold marks that glare up at you when you unfold your fabric?

Washing or soaking will take care of those EXCEPT I didn't WANT to wash or soak it just now.

So, I smoothed it out as best as I could.

Got my water spray bottle and sprayed along those crease lines and over any severe wrinkles.

Low and behold I began to see those creases and wrinkles diminish.  Yippee!

Since I didn't get carried away with spraying, it should dry fairly quickly.

I'm so glad I remedied this age old issue I had with quilting through pointy creases
and heavy wrinkles.  Sometimes I don't wash my quilts (if at all) right away
and I like seeing the back all nice and smooth.

It won't completely erase them, but it'll sure soften them.

Try it and see if it works for you.  It was fast and simple to do!

  1. Yay! I love it when a quilting solution is simple and effective. Will remember this one. Thanks.

  2. Sadly, I don't think that great tip will work as well in this rainy state - it wouldn't dry very quickly! :( What I usually do is get a small hand towel damp and then throw that and the fabric in the dryer for 15 or 20 minutes. That fabric comes out nice and smooth!
