Santa went shopping at the antique mall.
HE found this WONDERFUL vintage quilt top HE liked VERY much!
SO HE bought it....for MRS. CLAUS.
But being new to all this quilty 'stuff n things' SANTA didn't know what to look
out for after all.
SANTA didn't know this lovely little quilt top would and could have some "issues".
It had some really neat 9 patch blocks HE liked A LOT.
WHAT A BONUS... it was hand sewn and all.
SANTA didn't know it would be "WAVY-WAVING" at him when he brought it home for
MRS. CLAUS.
HE also didn't know MRS.CLAUS would hug his neck and thank him
despite the quilt top flaws!!!
NOTE...the first thing I will do is remove the border. It is a wreck! I think someone besides the top maker sewed on the border and they DID NOT know what they were doing!
The nine patch part looks great! What a wonderful gift! :0)
ReplyDeleteOhhh that Santa - he is a clever shopper. I agree - the border needs to be replaced - or just gone. I'm not a fan of the wide border just for size - the the nine patches are fabulous. Great find Santa.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise! He did a good job. Happy Holidays
ReplyDeleteSanta was extra good to you! This top is wonderful! Yep.....take off and fix that wavy border, and it will be a sweet quilt! Yay for quilty Santas!
ReplyDeleteI was holding my breath...until I read that Santa got a sweet hug! Will
ReplyDeletelook forward to seeing what magic Mrs
Claus works on this darling nine-patch!
Good thing Mrs. Claus knows how to rescue Santa's find. The border looked kind of incongruous anyway, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful quilt. Your hubby did a good job. Imperfections are what make life interesting and unique as it is :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and thoughtful Santa. Lucky you :-)
ReplyDeleteA very kind gift, especially for a quilter. And those waves can be quilted out :)
ReplyDeleteSCORE!! What a guy!! A VERY kind and thoughtful gift from the HEART!! He is a definite keeper!!

Yup, it's the borders for sure! But how thoughtful was he to go hunting for your gift among vintage textiles? Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I hope once the borders are removed that the rest of it will lay flat. Fun quilt!
ReplyDeleteThis is so sweet! I love all the 9 patches too. Now we see can why it was never finished. Wave heaven.
ReplyDeleteI agree, take off the border.
And look, your computer is showing!
I like very much this vintage look, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great gift. It's nice that Santa (and now you) rescued the quilt. Someone put in many hours on it. (Love the "vintage-ness")
ReplyDeleteWhoever sewed those borders on probably saved Santa a quite a nice little penny ! Good spotting, Santa !
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gift! And you will be able to fix that border easy enough. The nine patches are great.
ReplyDeleteSanta sure deserved that hug and kiss! Terrific 9 patch quilt. I totally agree the border was not original and can be waved goodbye :) Lucky Mrs. Claus!
ReplyDeletethe perfect gift and the perfect solution to helping this quilt look like it "should"! that Santa did a wonderful job and got a fitting reward ...looking forward to seeing it after being rescued!
