Old-n-Crazy but Still Good!

My blog post could most certainly be describing ME, but that description belongs to this
star quilt I received in the mail a while back.

Julie from JulieKquilts blog was the one who sent it to me.  You can go to her blog and read HERE about how it came into her hands before
she sent it on to me.

As with all older quilts there can be some issues…

This top has some machine sewing going on as well as some hand sewing.
See some of the paper still attached…there on the left.

Oops, the edges don't quite meet up.

Oh My!

But what's a few puckers among quilty friends??

Paper pieced diamonds large and small form the design.

A WIDE variety of fabrics were used.

I'm swooning…..yes, really I am!

Tucked inside my quilty package was this LARGE bag of Julie's scraps along with THE cutest
sparkle-ee card with a bookmark.

I left a comment on JulieK's post that day, she responded to my comment with a question.

Which one do you like the best???

Well, I like the pink and green star one!

Good, said Julie, I will send it to you!!!

WOW!

I LOVE this old star quilt AND am soooo amazed at JulieK's generosity in sending
it to me.
Even though the top has some major issues it is still lovely, good and just plain
ole fun to look at.  I have spent much time studying it and enjoying it.
Wondering about who made it and how old it
might be.

So, I guess this old quilt and I do have a title to share

Old-n-Crazy but Still Good!

THANKS bunches JulieK!

Hey…Does This Cow Make Me Look Fat???

LOL…….LOL……yes, some silliness today!  I certainly hope I wouldn't look fat standing next to a cow!!!  Well…..it might take standing next to a cow to make me look
skinny!

What my title should have been is…. Does This Sketch Look Like A Cow???
I quickly pencil sketched this cow( just to see if I could ) from a link I saw on Karen Dianne's blog.  The link was titled Burlap and Hay.
LOTS of great photos……all country cute and stuff!

ANYWAY…since we raise cattle (all 600 head) I have always wanted to do a cow portrait for
Mr. Browndirt's office.
Our cows won't stand still long enough for me to get a good photo and besides, I am scared of them…..LOL….I'm afraid they will run me over!!!

I am an artist/painter from w-a-y back and maybe, just maybe I'll get a cow painted on some canvas.

Here is one of my ALL time favorite pictures.  It is titled "HER FAVORITES" and is marked copyright 1901.  I bought this for MY birthday numerous years back.  It has a little water
mark damage at the bottom, but that's ok
I still LOVE her anyway!

Speaking of COWS…..yes, we're STILL speaking of cows.  I'm also working on another sketch
to do one of

Mary Lou Weidmans cow quilts…..found in this book of hers and Melanie McFarlands.

Mary Lou's cow quilts are just showing up ALL over the place.  CUTE CUTE CUTE!! Yes, I want one too!!

Below are some of my favorite COW pieces we have collected through the years.

 Plate I have hanging

 Cheese Keeper

Toy Cow that walks when it's on a tilted surface…FUN!

1945 Calendar…..advertising for Lumber Co. in the town I grew up in…..I swoon over this one!

Ok……enough of the COW talk!

Moo Ya Later!

Baskets

Yep…..baskets!  I made some today.  Aren't they cute?  I was supposed to be making them for the Block Lotto but I REALLY REALLY like them.

Should I just keep them……..for myself?

What say you??

They measure 6" x 9" finished size

Thanks to everyone coming to the rescue on my blog fiasco I talked about in my last post!  I think everything is coming together today as a solution to my problem.  I really appreciate those of you
who let me know how/what/where they could see my blog.  What a relief….it seems it will work out!!

I had the opportunity to meet some of my followers that I had never met before!!!

Sooooo glad you all can see me again!!

Help….I Disappeared!!!!

Well…..my blog did anyway!  What a wreck!  As I warned a post or two back my blog might go away because my .com domain expired and I wasn't sure what would happen.  It's like starting all over again as a new blogger.  I tried for 2 months to get my .com domain renewed...to no avail….and soooo, it finally went into expired mode this week.  I did switch back to my old blogspot.com address, but since the .com address is void there was no way for me to post on it to let everyone know.  I have been sending out emails and leaving comments on blogs to try and let everyone know what has happened and to let you all know how to find me again.

If you follow me on Bloglovin, Feedly, etc. and click on my link it will take you to go daddy.com……aaarrghggh!

If by chance you are seeing this…..where ever you have me listed…..check and change my blog address to:

www.browndirtcottage.blogspot.com

There are A LOT of foreign gals who are following my clamshell quilt tutorial who will not be able to find me now and I have no way of notifying them…….aaarrghgghhgh!!!

I am working with Bloglovin and others to try and get this remedied.

So for now…..sniff sniff….I feel like a new baby blogger that no one knows about……sniff….

If by chance you are seeing this I would appreciate a comment…..just to let me know!  I will be soooo excited if someone sees this post.

Thanks to all my regular readers and friends who have kept up with me through all these last 5 years!!
