Death by Triangles

This death of mine could be a slow one too.  HA!  Sheeee Wiz, it is taking me
F-O-R-E-V-E-R to get this finished...well….it seems that way!
Just all that repetition I guess is making me crazy!!

I have 18 rows so far and I have calculated I need 5 more rows to make it NOT square.

I have always wanted a Red/White quilt and sooooo, I thought I would
start with a simple design.  No paper piecing here, I drew out a
template the size I wanted and started cutting out.  These
are 4" tall by 3-ish wide.  Each row has 54 triangles
which make it roughly 73' wide.  I'm shooting for maybe
85" for the length.  I'll just see how it works out.

This photo makes some of the reds look PINK, but they really are
ALL red and white.

Ok…..back to my dead man's walk…..

  5. Wow! This is incredibly beautiful especially because they're 3-ish inches wide. ;)

You're so fun. You make me smile and laugh!!!

  6. I wondered why we hadn't heard from you. This explains it! You have been hypnotized by triangles!!
Wow, that is an amazing project. I applaud you for sticking with it. I'm afraid if I decided to do a red/white quilt I would have chosen large 9-patch blocks. I have such a hard time sticking with two colors, even though I love the look. My hand keeps reaching for a third or fourth color to add in.
Maybe when you surface again we will see a finished flimsy. Good luck with it! : )

  21. Love the triangles. I love to work on quilts like this when I want mindless sewing. My current mindless project is tumblers--a tad smaller than your triangles--that will be a king-size quilt. It's been going for a few years now and I suspect will go for a few more, but that's ok. It's great for fulfilling the need to sew when I've only got 15 minutes available.

  28. O.M.G.!! What an undertaking! I can understand the title of your post. LOL I'll bet it feels a bit like being pecked to death by chickens. This is an amazing feat, and it will be soooo gorgeous when you're finished. You're almost there! Everyone's got it right - it will be worth it in the end.

Do you have much red fabric left now?? :)

  29. This is truly remarkable! I made a vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry charm quilt years ago. It was all hand-pieced and tied. I know you will live to love it!
