OK.......so I drank the Kool-Aid!! But then again I'm ALWAYS drinking others Kool-Aid from out there in quilty blog land. Especially when it's as good as this!!
I first ran across SUJATA'S kool-aid stand, oh yes, I drank several glasses. Enough for me to get the instructions on this amazing quilt. Sujata did an outstanding job on figuring out all the P's and Q's of this design and shares a fabulous "how-to". I did several sample diamonds trying to get just the right background color. I did one in red....nope, I didn't like that....I had some sort of ugly brown in my stash and thought that would work.....but.....it was pretty gaggy! Nothing spoke to me until I discovered this greenish/grayish color. Yes, at last I could get started.
But before I got started I had to go over and see the kool-aid BARBARA was serving up with this particular design. Of course, Barbara always has the BEST kool-aid on all those oldies but goody vintage quilts and patterns and designs. I JUST LOVE HER BLOG!!! You always come away from her kool-aid stand feeling like you've just drank champagne instead of kool-aid!
Anyone wanting to try this can get the best instructions from both blogs, just click on either or
both of their names above.
I have done about 65 diamonds and have prepped papers for about 70 more.....WOO HOO!! I love how mine is turning out!!!!
Thanks ladies for sharing your kool-aid!!!!
Oh, this is so fun. Your background color choice really works for me. It is a good thing I am currently on a "no new projects" diet (I go on those several times a year)--that includes any kool-aid out there in blogland (I've had too much lately and I'm drowning in it)!
ReplyDeleteI love this one too but I'm going to refuse the kool-aid right now but keep showing us your progress. Your links aren't working - one too many http:// in the address. I've done that by accident before too, so easy to do.
ReplyDeleteoooo I love love love this its madness is sew stunning x Really really stunning infact - if you could make one 3meters x 3 meters that will do our bed! lol
ReplyDeleteLOL you've enough to be getting along with and my hands need the practice,
WOW. I am going to have fun watching this get done! I am happy everything is back in working order. You must have finished the one on your couch?
ReplyDeleteI am loving it, too, like everyone else!! And I'm particularly in love with that vintage green-y color. LOVE it. So cute. Now I want to make one, too.. Can't drink that kool-aid until I get some other lined up projects done, though. :o) Enjoyed your post! Can't wait to see your quilt come together. Off to visit the other kool-aid stands. :o)
ReplyDeleteYou temptress! I have too many works in progress to think about making this one right now, but what a great way to use scraps! It's going on the someday to-do list.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the background you chose! It's perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty background ,I have made a spider web recently and that to me looks like a wonky spider web ,but anyone can call it whatever they like ,very pretty .
ReplyDeleteWow - amazing what one can do when one drinks the Kool Aid - LOL
ReplyDeleteThe background really sparks the whole project!!!
I was tempted with this one, too. Yours is fantastic - that background really makes it!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks great. I agree about Barbara's blog. It's a mini college course on line to me.
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt better than mine! I think the green background is a perfect choice for this old fashioned quilt.
ReplyDeleteI learn something new every time I visit Barbara's blog.. I totally agree with Barb on it being a mini college for quilters.
Thank you for being so kind with your words :)
Yayy I got in your blog. I love this quilt. It is worth koolaid drinking. Your take on things is so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteWow, you really did drink the Koolaid! Your quilt top looks fabulous! I too think the background looks great - it really sets off all those bright colors nicely. How big are you going for?
ReplyDeleteI resisted the Koolaid, but it was tough. Sujata and Barbara made it look soooo easy. But I have other things I have to do instead.
I agree about BB's blog. It is so informative and fun too. I always learn something good.
Yes, I think I drank some of that kool-aid too! I have so many projects going, but this is a great stash buster. If you like this one, did you see the similar one at http://niftyquilts.blogspot.com/? This is the one I'm going to start...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your great ideas!
Stunning! I like how wide you made the center strip of the diamond and the grayed green you chose. That green works really, really well to frame your colorful wonky spiderwebs. I don't envy you putting all those blocks together with "y" seams. ;-)
ReplyDeletelooking great! Thamks for sharing it
