Change is Good

Yes....I think there comes a time when CHANGE is good and much needed. CHANGE can come when you plan it and then again CHANGE can be forced upon you when you least expect it. This has been a hard year for Mr. Brown Dirt and myself dealing with his sick father. I soooo want to thank each and everyone of you who left heart warming comments on my previous post concerning the passing of our loved one. Our lives CHANGED this past year and continues to CHANGE each day after his passing. We have so many good memories though!!

I was in the middle of another CHANGE when father in laws sudden death occurred. I finally found some much needed new living room furnishings. Of course, NOTHING matches!! Soooo the paint color must be CHANGED. The curtain/drapes must be CHANGED. Here is how my living room has looked for 3 weeks now. My room is in a total mess, well...actually my whole house is sort of in a mess. The green is what is being CHANGED and that is primer you see there.

The mustard colored walls in Mr. Brown Dirt's office must be CHANGED too!!! This is the color he wanted, but I think 15 yrs. of me looking at it is long enough!!! I have already started priming it too.

The most CHANGE I need in my life is a little extra time. I need to make some CHANGES on how I spend my time. My house is in total disarray and the holidays are bearing down on me fast! I want to spend a little time being who I was before I started blogging and spending so much time on the computer. Soooo, it's time for a CHANGE here at Brown Dirt Cottage. I will be taking some much needed time out from blogging. This CHANGE will be good for me and maybe I can come back soon refreshed and with a clean and orderly house!!!! I may check in with some of you from time to time but I will not be posting for a while!! See ya!

  1. Take the time you need and settle in; you've had so much *change* that it's probably time to get some realiable routines (and all-ome-color walls) in your life!

  5. My best wishes and prayers go out to you. It sounds like you know in your heart what you need to focus on. Enjoy the creative process of the changes in your home...and I'll look forward to reading your posts when you are back. I can never sew when I'm painting...painting is a pretty overwhelming activity for me!

  6. Good bye dear friend - do come back from time to time - we miss you so much. Maybe give yourself a time limit - post some on the blog and then hurry back to the house preparations. I give myself a reward for work well done and set the timer to make me get up and shut it off and leave the computer - it works - since the timer I have will beep for 100 years if I don't walk out to the kitchen and shut it up - I mean off. LOL

  10. This year I traveled from Oregon to Alaska 4 times,I took care (at home)of a mom with advanced Alzheimer's, a father with dementia, and did it for 3 months with one of my arms broken and having gone through major surgery. I thought I could do anything, because if I didn't, who else would? Everyone else told me they couldn't.

Finally, I went home and collapsed. Then, my dad died in August...back I went. All that time, all year, I blogged typing with one finger on dial up phone line. I was a crazy woman.

My Alaskan family learned to expect me to be a super woman so they did not help until I finally collapsed and left...then they all pulled together. In one month they couldn't take what I had been doing for 5 years. It taught me so much.

Protect you and your time in some space in your life. You get lots stronger from the pushing and the doing, but it is not worth the stress. Enjoy the holidays and keep them holy within you.

  12. Writing my blog is just a 15 minute slot in my schedule every day. Taking the pictures and "improving" them in the photo program probably takes another 15 minutes. It actually helps me to get more done. Why not post a picture and a couple sentences twice a week to let us see your progress?

  24. Good for you. It is a time I think everyone makes a pause in blog life. We have to. Your painting is coming along. But I see you've got more ahead of you. It will be so wonderful when it is all done. That is the only thought that carries me through projects like this. I will be here. Good to know what is going on at your house.
