I have been looking at and studying the little stars I made....like the ones above in my header. I have them all layed out on my design wall where I can see and enjoy them. My intent is to use them in a quilt, but I got to thinking maybe they needed something else to go along with them...??? I just love crazy little churndashes... SO...I made some! I think they could fit right in with those stars!!
This unusual block is SUPPOSED to be one of those churndashes like above. This is what happens when you're not paying too much attention to what you are doing and sew a piece to the wrong side. I LIKE IT!! So it's a keeper!!
I saw a demonstration on this cute little 'paper pieced' bird and immediately wanted to try it. I think it is cute and I sure want to do some more in different colors. After I got the hang of the fact that it was like sewing upside down AND backwards I thought maybe it was fun!
A band of bunnies. How cute! Oh I love your mistake! Very improvisational...
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute! Love your little blocks!
ReplyDeleteReally cute. And really cute fabric too. I especially like the black and white stripe.
ReplyDeleteI love your stars, and the red "bird". How pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet are those bunnies, can't wait to see the rest of your collection.

Sometimes wonderful things occur when you make "mistakes"!
ReplyDeleteYour little cardinal is precious. I don't enjoy paper piecing myself but it does make for precise piecing!
That block IS liberated and gorgeous (I mean the green and black one in case you hadn't guessed). Isn't it amazing what happens if you're not paying attention.
ReplyDeleteI used to have china bunnies like that. They dated from the 50's and scared the living daylights out of me. Mum had to get rid of them which is Bad News as I reckon they'd now be worth something.
Loved your mistake and that bird is so cute.. I might make one of those too.. that is when and if I can ever get back in my sewing room.. DH shoved a bunch of stuff in there and I'm still waiting for him to remove it.
ReplyDeleteThe Oompah Band is my favorite, and I think you have created a new design for a quilt block.
ReplyDeleteI was jut upstairs and picked up Gwen Marston's Liberated Quiltmaking and turned to a random page to read a bit. It was making liberated churndashes. I opened up your blog and there are some and they are so cute. How big are they? You have such cute ideas.
ReplyDeleteI just love the way you are not afraid to mix colors and prints in your blocks. Maybe one day I won't be so afraid to do that.
ReplyDeleteLove your cardinal and the bunny band is cute. I have not ever seen them before.
I love stars too and churndash too. I am sure they will go well together, can't wait to sss how? Natima
ReplyDeleteFun bunnies!!! OH - those churn dashes are too cute - uh oh!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteAww Bunnykins! There are some for sale at Goviers.co.uk as the Royal Doulton firm have been in trouble. It's a sort of get them while you can place.

ReplyDeleteI would make a bird in every color and combination I could think of. First I would have to learn to piece, though. That is one great bird.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. I just love those churndash blocks. And the bunny parade made me smile ear to ear.
