28 Months Deserves A Reward

I've been working on a new project.  My REWARD for being sooooo good!!  Yep, the 4th of May was 28 w-h-o-l-e months since I've bought

any fabric!!!

Well, sorta.....when I hit the 24 month target I treated myself to a REWARD.

When I saw this BOM KIT The Quilt Show was featuring for 2013 I *swooned* and decided I HAD to have it!!  My *no fabric buying rebellion* just

flew right out the window!!

I reasoned I had been good for 2 yrs. with no fabric purchases and it was time for a special

treat.  Don't you agree a girl needs some incentive to keep up her strength!! 

I've already sewn TONS of spiky paper piecing!  Woo Hoo, they look like orange

mountains with blue sky!

 Those spiky pieces are now sewn together to make the sashing between the blocks.

Cute *round thangs* are what I am working on today.  I only need 9......yeh!!!

I have other pieces and parts sewn together, but no photos yet!

This is a FABULOUS REWARD I gave myself!

Star Crazy is now a Flimsy

FINALLY!!!  Yes, just this VERY MINUTE (no kidding) I finished this top.  I must say I really struggled toward the end with this one. 

There were 9 BORDERS!!!

To date, this is the largest top I have sewn!

It measures 84"x84".

Yep, I did a post a while back titled I HATE BORDERS!!  Well,

now I REALLY hate them.  HA!

Maybe when I get over all the borders I had to deal with I'll decide I like it.  It's

not that I don't like it, it's just pretty bright and more

colorful in person than the photo on the pattern.

It truly is a miracle this thing is even REMOTELY square.  This top had

problems and issues (me being the main issue) from the 'git go'.

This was a BOM featured several years

back on The Quilt Show.

But....looking above at the dreamy photo.....I'm beginning to feel a mother's love.

LOTS of STARS to sew.

 LOTS of trimming and snipping.

 (hope the birds don't poop on this while I have it out here on the lawn)

LOTS of paper piecing.

LOTS of HST'S.

LOTS of ironing.

Only 3 more borders to go here.  I nearly rebelled and flung it to the floor on this day!

But......I didn't.....and I finished it......

and now

I can go back to working on ANOTHER BOM I have started.

OH NO!!!!  Just as I was about to hit the publish button I saw

a BIG mistake sewn in.  DARN! DARN! DARN!

I just CAN NOT believe I didn't see it before now.....

*SIGH*

Postcards

Silly-ness!  Well, that's what my friend Julie and I enjoy a lot of with each other.  Even though we are miles apart with her living in Iowa and I'm down here in good ole Texas I always tell her it's

like we're 

sisters.....from anuther muther!

This postcard arrived in my mail yesterday!!!!

In my previous post I mentioned my hacking cough I can't seem to get rid of.......well, add a little family drama going on to that and that is what Julie and I were going back and forth 

through emails about.  I told her with all the drama and this

cough I wanted to run away to a quiet little 

CABIN IN THE WOODS!!!

(well, I guess it wouldn't be so quiet after I show up coughing..??)

I just LOVE getting her hand made postcards, they ALWAYS make me feel better!!

Julie has sent me numerous postcards these last couple of years and here is how I keep them.  They are out all the time so I can enjoy them and get a smile EVERYDAY!!!

P.S.  My cough is MUCH better.....I seem to be on the mend!!  Thanks to all my well wishers!
