Blowing...Blowing.....Gone

As I was taking these pictures I noticed the wind has blown, rattled and shook our house so much it unscrewed the screw right out of my door latch......didn't find the screw!!!

Here is some of my front porch stuff back here on the back porch where it is more protected. It's a chore to keep hubby from using my chairs as HIS catch-all.

Isn't this plant stand just the right amount of rust and chippy paint. (needless to say the wind doesn't ALLOW me to keep any plants on it!!@?@!!) This belonged to my great-grandmother and now I'm very proud to have it to enjoy.

You can see some of the dirt collecting here in my beautiful bird bath I mosaiced(sniff sniff). This is part of how the Brown Dirt Cottage was created. So....do you think Kim would mind if I just went and sat on her porch for awhile??? I don't think she would.

Dear Daisy Cottage

This is what you'll see as you walk toward my porch.............

But this is what you'll see when you get up on the porch. This is how my furniture has been for the last 2 months!!!!! And I have just as much wisteria growing inside the porch as I do outside the porch. I just love it wondering and wild, but hubby doesn't see it the same way I do. So far he's agreed not to trim it yet. We have just had storms and wind off and on for 2 months now. That is why there is nothing on my front porch but a pile of beat up wicker. Believe it or not, the chairs are supposed to be where I am standing taking the picture. Yep, the wind makes my front porch just like a pool table with my cute stuff rolling around like those little balls. I titled this Dear Daisy Cottage because I just love reading Kim's post and looking at her yummy pictures. I must say I've had some nashing of the teeth lately as I look at her beautifully quoffed front porch and then I go out and look at mine.

This old rod iron gate is the only thing heavy enough to not blow away, it's very heavy. I just love it!!

I picked up my wreath and hung it back up.......notice there's not anything on it!! I think I need some heavier wire to hold things on with. I even considered decorating it and then shrink wrapping the whole thing so everything wouldn't keep blowing off, and then when I have to keep bringing it in and out that ole grapevine trash won't keep falling off on my floor. It would work the same as keeping plastic on your new furniture or the plastic wrap on your lamp shades (lol).

Just a Few Little Ditties

Isn't this just the cutest "little" jacket you ever saw. I made this back in October for my newly born granddaughter Malory. If I had done a close up picture you would be able to tell more about the detail. It's a bunch of different size pieces sewn on top of one another to a muslin lining and all askew to make it scrappy. Then you quilt across it so that just the edges fray.
The pattern doesn't show reversible, but I made mine that way. You can't see it real good, but that is a little satin butterfly sewn down with beads on top of the heart. It's lightweight and not too bulky, just right. The pattern is called "Cute as a Button Baby Jacket" by Jackie Clark.
For my birthday I told everyone (including the guys) to buy me some fabric. I told them they had to pick it out themselves. I thought it would be fun to see what everyone picked. Well, one of the guys is a six man football coach and school principal. He bought me an eighth of a yard of the players. I thought , what in the world can I make with just an eighth of a yard??? I dug around and found the black and white stripe, it reminded me of referee shirts (the ruffle around the band) and when I came across the footballs print I knew I had the makings of a purse. The pattern I used is by Indygo Junction. This one is called "The Metropolitan".
This is the same pattern as above. It was made using scraps left over from a short set I made for my daughter when she was about 6 yrs. old.......she is now 29 yrs. old!!!! The base is like a medium weight denim. I don't think it looks too bad, but i feel like it needs something...like some yo-yos, a silk flower or maybe a big ole gaudy pin!!

Love these

When I discovered Bonnie over at quiltville.....I immediately gathered up and organized my scraps (just like she shows us how) and produced this boxy star.....this one I am still trying to decide on sashing.....I think I am leaning toward this cranberry print......what do you think?

Chunky churndash was my next project.....this one was so much fun to do and sewed up fairly quickly.....I'm telling you.... Bonnie's website is great! She has the best step by step pictures that are so easy to follow.....this one is ready for batting and quilting. It amazes me how many scraps I DIDN'T use......my stash never looks depleted by even a yard!

Oops!...Sorry Tonya

My beginner mistake........Bonnie's friend I referred to is Tonya at Lazygalquilting.blogspot.com............she does fabulous wording and hand quilting.........she deserves full billing because I really enjoy her blog. She is the one who suggested to me to do a blog too so I could be more involved.........well, I did Tonya and I thank you!!!!

I Did It!!!

Hi...........I'm here.....really........in blog land!!! I have had blogger envy for quite some time now. So......this ole dog learned this new trick. I'm a stay at homer. I live in a 100 yr. old two story pink (faded) cottage surrounded by good ole West Texas brown dirt. We farm and ranch about 3000 acres. I love all things that are pretty and sparkle, and especially old dishes!! I have a little house next door plum full....no really.......tubs and tubs and shelves and shelves.....stacks and stacks......well, you get the picture.

I also love to paint and mosaic. I have been known to paint and re-do a few furniture pieces. My newest project has been sewing quilts using up about 35 yrs. worth of scraps and fabric... which will NEVER be depleted because i keep adding to the stash. Getting started with the quilting came from Bonnie and her friend Tonya. Thanks gals!!

Sorry I don't have any pictures to post yet! I will go and see if I can learn how to do it. Would love any pointers. There are such lovely looking blogs out there and I want to be listed among them........so, be gentle.......and be patient....I will do it......... "BECAUSE I CAN!"
